Book NowThey say you can’t truly understand a house until you’ve seen what lies beneath it. For most Realtors, that’s a metaphor. For me, it’s a literal fact. Before I was helping clients buy and sell homes with The Minnesota Real Estate Team, I was crawling through their basements and cleaning their main lines as a drain cleaner.
My journey to becoming a top-tier Minnesota agent wasn’t a straight line—it was a winding path through small-town grit, big-city politics, the service industry grind, and the literal underground of the Twin Cities.
The “Freedom” Years: Annandale & The Early Hustle
The
Legacy

The Grave-Shift Foundation
The foundation of my career wasn’t laid in a luxury office; it was forged in the quiet, amber glow of **Anoka County** streetlights at 3:00 AM. For years, I was a ghost in the system—a **young single father** working the graveyard shift. While the rest of the world was tucked away in their beds, dreaming of their futures, I was awake, laboring for mine.
That silence is a powerful teacher. It teaches you that **”The Grind”** isn’t a social media aesthetic; it’s a physical weight. It’s the mental fortitude required to stay sharp when your body is begging for sleep. It’s the discipline of knowing that every hour on the clock was a direct investment in my daughter’s upbringing. When I transitioned into **Real Estate**, I didn’t leave that work ethic behind. I brought it with me. I treat every transaction with the same relentless urgency I used to navigate those long nights. If a deal requires a **midnight negotiation** or a **5:00 AM plan**, I am in my natural element.
This **”Midnight Symphony”** taught me that success is a matter of endurance. I don’t just find houses for my clients; I protect their interests with a level of grit that can only be earned through years of sacrifice. When you work with me, you aren’t just getting a **Realtor**; you’re getting a navigator who knows how to stay the course when things get complicated.
The Search for Authenticity
Every morning, when my shift ended, my real work began. I was a **dad first**. I’d sit at the kitchen table, the frost still thick on the glass, and I’d search for ways to make the day special for my daughter. I’d type **”fun things to do in Coon Rapids”** or **”hidden parks in Anoka,”** and every single time, I was met with the same robotic disappointment.
I found standardized reviews from corporate giants who had never stepped foot in our county. I found lists of the same five tourist traps that felt robotic and soulless. It was frustrating because I knew our community was deeper than that. I knew there were trails that felt like cathedrals of trees and hidden river spots that felt like private islands. The internet was giving me a brochure, but I wanted a heartbeat.
This frustration is what birthed mnbyjz.com. I decided that if the “experts” weren’t going to tell the real story of **Anoka**, **Coon Rapids**, and **Blaine**, I would. I started cataloging the **real fun**—the stuff only the locals know. I became a curator of the **Minnesota experience**, and that same spirit of **”Digital Authority”** is what I now use to market your home. I don’t just list properties; I tell the story of the life that happens inside them.
The 1,000 Mile Sanctuary
We are home to the **best cycling and running trails** in the **United States**. That is a fact I am willing to defend. Our county is crisscrossed by meticulously maintained paths that serve as the veins of our community. I have spent thousands of miles on these trails—sometimes with my daughter in a bike seat, sometimes pushing my own physical limits during those post-shift morning hours.
There is a specific feeling to these paths—where you often see **more dogs than people**, and the only sound is the hum of your tires on the pavement. These trails are more than just recreation; they are a **lifestyle asset**. When I help a family buy a home in **Blaine** or **Coon Rapids**, I’m helping them buy into this network of health and peace. I know which neighborhoods have the best trail access because I’ve lived on them. I’m not just selling you a roof; I’m selling you a **five-minute commute to a mental reset** in nature.
This deep connection to the land is what separates a “salesperson” from a consultant. I understand the topography of our community because I’ve experienced it at 15 miles per hour, day after day, season after season.
The Final Stretch to the River
**Manomin Park** is the true **”Hidden Gem”** of **Anoka County**. It’s a place that most people drive past without a second thought, but for those who know, it’s a portal to the old **Minnesota**. In the dry seasons, the river recedes just enough to reveal islands you can wade to—places where the noise of the city completely disappears.
Above: A video I took of the **final stretch to the Mississippi** when traveling the **Manomin Park hidden gem**.
Finding these spots requires a certain kind of curiosity—a willingness to **”dig deep.”** That is the same curiosity I bring to every real estate listing. Whether I’m searching for the perfect home for a buyer or identifying the unique value-add features for a seller, I am always looking for the **”Hidden Gem”** that others might miss. Manomin taught me that the best things in life aren’t always on the main road; sometimes, you have to find the **final stretch to the river**.
Summer of 2025
In **2025**, my daughter and I were season pass holders at **Bunker Beach Waterpark**. We weren’t just visitors; we were part of the furniture. We mastered the logistics of a **Coon Rapids** summer—the exact time the wave pool starts to peak and the best spots to catch the shade when the **Minnesota** humidity hits that breaking point. Those afternoons were the payoff for all those long nights in the graveyard shift.
That summer reinforced my belief in the power of **”Hyper-Local” focus**. I don’t just sell homes in this area; I live the life that those homes offer. I am invested in our parks, our splash pads, and our schools. When a client asks me about the quality of life in **Coon Rapids**, I don’t give them a statistic; I give them a story. I give them the reality of a community that shows up for its families.
Serious Professionalism
People often ask how I balance the Local Jokester persona with being a high-level **Realtor**. The answer is that the humor is the bridge to the professionalism. Real estate is stressful. It’s often the largest financial decision of a person’s life. If I can bring a smile to my client’s face, I can lower the pressure—which allows us to make better, more rational decisions at the closing table.
But make no mistake: behind the joke is a decorated expert. I am a **RENE** (Real Estate Negotiation Expert), an **SRS** (Seller Representative Specialist), and an **ABR** (Accredited Buyer’s Representative). I have earned my **C2EX** endorsement because I believe in the **gold standard of service**. I treat your equity with the same reverence I treated my night-shift paychecks. Every dollar counts, and I have the credentials to prove I know how to protect yours.
I am proud to be part of the Agent Referral Network for The Minnesota Real Estate Team. We are the **#1 team in the state** for a reason, and I bring that powerhouse resource to every local transaction in **Anoka**, **Coon Rapids**, and **Blaine**.
The 1% Standard
My motto is simple: **”1% Listing fee, when you buy with me.”** In an industry that is often opaque about fees, I wanted to be a beacon of transparency. Why **1%**? Because I know how hard you work for your equity. I know that the value in your home is your family’s future.
I’m not a “discount broker.” I’m a high-efficiency specialist. By using the digital marketing strategies I developed at BuildMyBizWeb.com, I can sell your home faster and for more money than traditional agents—all while letting you keep more of your wealth. I use professional photography, **drone footage**, and hyper-targeted social media to ensure your home isn’t just “listed,” but **”showcased”** to the right buyer at the right time.
The Land Specialist
I am currently attending **Metro State** with a **5-year plan** to develop into a premier **Land Consultant Specialist**. I’m not content with just knowing the structures on the ground; I want to understand the ground itself. **Minnesota** is growing, and as we look toward the future, the ability to analyze zoning, soil potential, and development opportunities will be the most valuable skill a **Realtor** can offer.
This is my commitment to being a **”Serious Professional.”** I’m not just thinking about the next commission; I’m thinking about the next decade of our community’s growth. Whether you are looking for a suburban lot or a large-scale development project, I am building the academic and professional foundation to be your ultimate guide. I’m playing the long game for my clients, ensuring that my advice is backed by rigorous study and local experience.
The Digital Ecosystem
My background is diverse because life is diverse. From theexecutivejokester.com to buildmybizweb.com, and even my ventures into local services like flower delivery, I believe in being a **”Connector.”** I don’t just exist in one silo. I understand how to build brands, how to reach customers, and how to tell a story that resonates.
When you work with me, you’re getting the sum of all these parts: the tech-savvy of a **web developer**, the heart of a **local jokester**, and the discipline of a **single father** who knows what it takes to win. I am a **relocation expert** for all of **MN**, and I am willing to travel anywhere else for clientele to ensure my clients get the results they deserve.

Equal Housing Opportunity
I was born in Saint Cloud and raised in Clearwater until the age of 10, spending my early days naming the bass and sunfish off our dock on Eaglewood Road. But life truly began—and nearly went off the rails—when we moved to Annandale.
I grew up with what I call “The Freedom House.” With a single mother often working and little supervision, my house became the congregation spot for every town kid looking for a place to be. We had Mario Kart tournaments, boxing matches in the garage, and bonfires that lit up the night. But too much freedom at a young age comes with a price.
I was a star wrestler for the Maple Lake/Annandale team, learning early on that aggression got results. That mindset, combined with a lack of guidance, led to years of trouble. I was the kid in the principal’s office three days a week, the teenager suspended 20 days a year, and the juvenile delinquent who spent time in Lino Lakes.
My turning point came at the Maple Lake Recovery Center on my 17th birthday. Surrounded by “old sober bastards” who had seen the darkest of times, I learned the power of the Serenity Prayer and the importance of resilience. That experience didn’t just straighten me out; it gave me an empathy for struggle that I carry with me today.
The Chicago Chapter: Culture Shock & Politics
Needing a drastic change, I left the cornfields of Annandale for the concrete of Southwest Chicago to join the Job Corps at age 20. It was the culture shock I needed. Coming from a white, small town, I was suddenly the minority. My friends were black, gay, and from walks of life I had never encountered. That experience stripped away the prejudices I had grown up around and shaped the ethical, inclusive mindset I bring to my business today.
I excelled in Chicago, landing an internship at the office of Congressman Danny K. Davis. Working under Deputy Chief of Staff Tumia Romero, I became the self-proclaimed “Google Bitch”—mastering the art of resourcefulness. I learned that you don’t need to know everything instantly; you just need to know how to find the answer faster than anyone else.
The Grind: Burgers, Bars, and The Service Industry
I’ve been working since I was 13, washing dishes at Homestyle Cafe because my cousin was dating the kitchen manager. By 15, I was cooking at Russel’s Bar & Grill, where I even had a burger named after me—the “Jake Burger” (stuffed with blue cheese and bacon)—before they realized I was too young to be working there.
I delivered for Jimmy’s Pizza in a 1991 Cadillac Deville, worked oil fields, cleared tree nurseries, laid sod, and did demolition. I spent years in the bartending trenches, including a significant stint at Buffalo Wild Wings in Coon Rapids, where I worked alongside Kieran Houlahan—the friend who would eventually inspire my jump into Real Estate.
The Roto-Rooter Years: Learning Homes from the Inside Out
When the COVID pandemic hit, I left the service industry to join Roto-Rooter. While the rest of the world locked down, I was entering homes across the Twin Cities, clearing sewers and inspecting lines.
This was my unofficial education in housing infrastructure. I learned to navigate the Twin Cities by the era of the plumbing. I can look at a sewer line and tell you if it’s been reconstructed, if the tree in the front yard is destroying your investment, or if the basement has a history of backing up. I worked through the civil unrest, navigating the “George Floyd Zone” and learning the history of Minneapolis neighborhoods through their infrastructure.
The Minnesota Real Estate Team & Web Building
Today, I apply that same “no-nonsense, get-it-done” work ethic to Real Estate. After a brief stint at Redfin, I returned to The Minnesota Real Estate Team under Anthony D’Agostino. I don’t just see a house with curb appeal; I see the mechanicals, the history, and the potential pitfalls that other agents miss.
But I’m not just about selling homes. Through mnbyjz.com, I am also showcasing my passion for web development. My motto is simple: “If you have the time and not the money, I will teach you how to build. If you have the money and not the time, I will do it for you.” Whether it’s building complex sites like theexecutivejokester.com or helping you find your next investment property, I bring the same hustle, transparency, and local expertise to the table.
I am Jacob Zwack. I’ve been the bully, the outcast, the bartender, the plumber, and the intern. Now, I’m the Realtor who will fight for you.
